Nice Museum Pass

Nice Museum Pass

Nice has two museum pass options for visitors – the €15 municipal 4-day pass covering all 10 city-owned museums, and the broader French Riviera Pass starting at €30, which adds Chagall and a wider Riviera circuit. This page covers what each one includes, how their prices compare to individual tickets, and which makes sense depending on how long you're spending in Nice.

French Riviera Pass

The wider pass issued by the Nice Côte d'Azur Metropolitan Tourist Office covers 50+ attractions across the region. Priced at €30 (24h), €45 (48h), or €65 (72h) – it includes the Chagall Museum, which the municipal pass does not.

Matisse and MAMAC included

The Musée Matisse in Cimiez and MAMAC (Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art) are included in the €15 municipal pass. Buying just those two individually costs approximately €20 combined, so the pass pays for itself at the second museum.

Chagall: French Riviera Pass only

The Musée National Marc Chagall (Avenue Dr. Ménard) is a French national museum – not municipal – so it's excluded from the €15 pass. It's included in the French Riviera Pass. Individual entry costs €12; it's free on the first Sunday of each month.

What's not included

Public transport (Lignes d'Azur buses and trams) is not included in either pass. The French Riviera Pass offers transport as a paid add-on at €4 per day, but at €1.70 per tram ride this is rarely worth adding. All municipal museums close on Tuesdays.

Common questions

FAQs

Is the Nice museum pass worth buying?

Yes, if you're visiting at least two of the main municipal museums. The Musée Matisse costs approximately €10 on its own, and MAMAC costs roughly the same – so those two together already exceed the €15 pass price. Every additional museum after that is pure upside. If you're mainly visiting Nice for Chagall, note that it's not in the municipal pass; you'll need a separate €12 ticket or the French Riviera Pass.

What's the difference between the municipal pass and the French Riviera Pass?

The €15 municipal pass covers all 10 Nice city-owned museums for 96 hours – it's the better deal if you're staying in Nice and focusing on art and history. The French Riviera Pass (from €30 for 24 hours) covers more than 50 attractions across the wider region, including the Chagall Museum, the hop-on hop-off bus, boat excursions, and sites like Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild and the Maeght Foundation. Choose the municipal pass for a museum-focused Nice trip; choose the Riviera Pass if you're combining museums with wider Riviera day trips.

Does the Nice museum pass include public transport?

No – neither the €15 municipal pass nor the French Riviera Pass includes regular Lignes d'Azur trams and buses. The French Riviera Pass offers a transport add-on at €4 per day, but given that a single tram or bus ride costs €1.70 (valid 74 minutes with unlimited transfers), and a 7-day unlimited pass costs just €20, the add-on is rarely worthwhile. Buy transport tickets separately at any tram station machine.
