Common questions

FAQs

Is the Amsterdam museum pass worth it?

If you're visiting three or more museums, yes. The Museumkaart at €64.90 breaks even quickly: the Rijksmuseum (€22.50) and Stedelijk (€20) alone are €42.50 at the door. A third museum puts you ahead. For the I Amsterdam City Card, factor in transport – a GVB day ticket costs approximately €8–9, so a 48-hour card already saves you €16–18 before you visit a single museum.

Which pass is better for a short break?

The I Amsterdam City Card suits two- to three-day trips. It bundles museums with public transport and includes the Van Gogh Museum. The Museumkaart makes more sense for longer stays, multiple museum visits, or if you're also travelling to other Dutch cities – Haarlem, Leiden, and Utrecht are all covered.

Where can I buy the Amsterdam museum pass?

The Museumkaart is available online at museumkaart.nl, or at any participating museum. The I Amsterdam City Card can be bought at iamsterdam.com, at the Amsterdam Visitor Centre on Stationsplein (outside Centraal Station), or at Schiphol Airport on arrival.
